Ricketts Great Books College maintains a fair and transparent refund policy. Refund amounts are set by the date of cancellation or withdrawal, applied consistently, and documented. The policy is disclosed before enrollment in the Enrollment Agreement and the Academic Catalog.
Standard tuition is $8,000 for a 16-week semester (a full-time load of 16 credit hours); part-time enrollment is $500 per credit hour; a one-time $200 registration fee applies. Refunds are calculated from the effective date of cancellation or withdrawal and the portion of the term completed.
You may cancel within five (5) calendar days of signing the Enrollment Agreement and receive a full refund of all monies paid, including the registration fee. A student who cancels before the first day of instruction receives a full refund of all monies paid. (See Cancellation & Withdrawal.)
After the five-day cooling-off period, tuition refunds follow this schedule, based on the week of the term in which you withdraw. The refund period begins on the official first day of instruction.
The refund equals the scheduled percentage times the tuition charged. The one-time $200 registration fee is retained except within the five-day cooling-off period, when all monies are refunded. In a program of two or more courses, each course is treated separately. A course shorter than 11 weeks uses the College’s matching short-term schedule. Where a state in which the College is authorized requires a more protective calculation, the College applies the result more favorable to the student.
Required e-texts (provided through VitalSource) and course materials are included in published tuition. Once access is provided, these costs are non-refundable; a student who withdraws before first accessing the materials receives a full refund of the material cost. Physical materials, if shipped, may be returned within 14 days of receipt for a refund, excluding shipping.
Standard tuition is $8,000 for a 16-week term. The $4,000 completion rebate is earned only by successfully completing the semester; it is forfeited on withdrawal and is not part of the refund calculation.
Refunds are issued within thirty (30) calendar days of the effective date, to the original payment method. After processing, 3–5 business days may pass before the refund appears, depending on your bank. You receive written confirmation of the amount, the calculation, and the expected date.
The College does not participate in federal Title IV student-aid programs, so the federal Return of Title IV Funds rules do not apply; refunds are governed solely by this policy and applicable state provisions.
If you believe a refund was miscalculated, or you have extenuating circumstances, you may appeal in writing to the Registrar within 30 days of the refund determination, with supporting documentation. The Registrar issues a written decision within 10 business days. If denied, you may pursue the College’s Complaint/Grievance process.
